26.04.2009 Campionato Italiano 4T-250cc - Siena

A fantastic three days of karting has just concluded in Castelnuovo  Berardenga, where the international circuit of Siena has hosted the  second round of Open Masters 2009. The six round championship organized  by the Federazione Italiana Karting will give the titles of tricolori in five categories of national karting. Championship present atractive  racing in five categories: 60 Mini, KF3, KF2, KZ2 and 250 4T.

The  morning rain has affected the conduct of the event, forcing the drivers and teams to a great job of tuning and searching for the right setup for the wet track conditions. Rain has affected all the prefinals and the  finals of 60 Mini and KF3. Then, later in the day, the wind and the disappearance of rain have again changed the situation, what gave  opportunity for the drivers in the last three finals to drive with slick tires.

An unleashed Luca  Giacomello (Zanardi-GM) won the first final for the Open Masters in 250 cc 4-stroke category. Giacomello, starting from the sixth row, managed  to take the lead at the end of the fifth lap and he easily won the race in front of Alberto Cavalieri (BRM-ORAL) and Ivan Pezzolla (Intrepid-ORAL), which form the first podium in the history of the Italian 250 cc 4-stroke category. It was Patrick Beyerlein representing  Wildkart Racing Team in the 4-stroke category. Young German managed to  score 4th place in the finals, after starting from the last place on the grid, due to bad luck in the prefinals. This was another great result for Suter powered Ghibli chassis.
